Can You Immediately Resign from a Company in 1-2 Days?

According to my personal experience, you can resign from a company in 1-2 days. I did the same thing after working for just 4 days at the Food Corporation of India in Nizamabad, Telangana State. However, please note that I resigned to join the Central Water Commission in my hometown, Hyderabad.

The Process of Resignation

Resigning within such a short period is possible, but be mindful of a few things:

Checking Contracts and Bonds

Ensure that you have not signed any bond or agreement that requires you to work for a certain period. If you have, there might be a requirement to pay back a few months of your salary as a penalty. Some companies do not always provide the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) or an experience letter. However, these challenges can typically be managed by good companies. Private companies, in particular, tend not to have such stringent rules.

Company Policies and Agreements

Your resignation might depend on the terms and conditions you agreed upon when you were hired. These may include a clause requiring you to serve for a minimum period, such as one, five, or ten years. If you wish to leave the company within a short period, you must adhere to these terms and conditions.

My personal recommendation is not to leave a job prematurely unless you have gained substantial experience. Most companies prefer experienced individuals and will likely not show preference for those who leave after a short tenure. Therefore, gaining some experience before moving on to another company is advisable.

Practical vs. Ethical Considerations

Practically, it is acceptable to resign within 1-2 days. However, ethically, it's often not the best decision unless there is a compelling reason. When a new employee is hired, the company invests time and resources. Resigning within a short period can be seen as wasteful and disrespectful to the company's time and efforts.

Reputation and Future Employment

Ensure that you resign properly to maintain a positive reputation. This not only helps you in the job market but also in building future professional relationships. Countries like Japan and Germany prioritize workplace loyalty, and employees are known to take pride in their workplaces. This attitude is beneficial as companies grow and thrive.

Therefore, it is recommended to gain some experience before considering another job. Understanding that long-term loyalty and experience are valuable in the job market can be a more sustainable approach to career advancement.

Thank you for your attention.

Best regards,
